While this card is all about Pete Rose, it should be noted that this card is also the rookie card for Pedro Gonzalez, Ken McMullen, and Al Weis. For Rose, who was nicknamed Charlie Hustle, this awesome card was just the beginning to an amazing collection of Rose cards spanning decades. In his first year on the field, Rose collected 170 hits, a great start to his 4256 career hits, the most in baseball history. Like Ty Cobb, who is second all time in hits at 4191, Pete Rose was a man whose sheer desire to succeed made him one of the greatest players in his day, and for all time. Of all the players who made their rookie card debuts in the 1960's, this rookie card might just enjoy the most historical significance. Pete's accomplishments on the field and his later transgressions betting on baseball, creates an aura of of brilliance and scandal all in one on this magnificent rookie card.
